“An Overview”
The book of Romans is one of the most significant books in the New Testament of the Bible. Written by the apostle Paul, it is a letter addressed to the Christian community in Rome and is considered a masterpiece of biblical theology. In this letter, Paul outlines the core beliefs and principles of Christianity, making it an essential resource for understanding the Christian faith. We will be looking to understand the Basic Principles found in each chapter...this is not an exegetical treatment.
Chapter 1
In this chapter, Paul introduces himself and his mission to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to non-Jewish people. He also expresses his longing to visit the Roman Christians and to impart to them some spiritual gift.
Principle: The gospel is for everyone, regardless of their background or ethnicity.
Chapter 2:
In this chapter, Paul stresses the importance of living a righteous life, and not just having a righteous reputation. He warns against hypocrisy and emphasizes that God judges everyone according to their deeds.
Principle: True righteousness comes from living a life that reflects the goodness and kindness of God, not just from religious rituals or external appearances.
Chapter 3
In this chapter, Paul argues that all people, regardless of their background or ethnicity, are guilty of sin and in need of salvation. He explains that salvation is only possible through faith in Jesus Christ, and that this faith is a gift from God, not something that people can earn through their own efforts.
Principle: Salvation is available to all who believe in Jesus, and it is a gift from God, not something that can be earned through works.
